Players roll to see who goes first. The highest roller goes first.
Gameplay and Rules[]
The gameplay and the rules in this edition are mostly and basically the same as in regular Monopoly.
The following differences are deviating from the original to this Monopoly edition.
Fewer Boardspaces[]
Each of all 8 color sets has only 2 properties (Looney Tunes characters), so it is easier for a player to complete a color set and upgrade the 2 properties in a complete color set. Each of the 4 sides of this edition’s gameboard has only 7 board spaces (excluding corner spaces) instead of the usual 10.
GO[]
When you reach GO, you will take 3 shots from the 3-point line.
First, take your token to where it will land. Before taking action on that space, take 3 shots.
- If you made 1 of 3 attempts, you collect 100 points.
- If you made 2 of 3 attempts, you collect 200 points.
- That’s the same “salary” amount as in regular Monopoly.
- If you made all 3 shots successfully, you collect the maximum of 500 points.
- 100 X 3 shots made + 200 bonus points for perfection
After taking shots and collecting points, take action on a board space that your token is right now.
Moving from One Boardspace to Another[]
There is a board space called “Force-Field Rebound”. There are 4 of it, and they are in the usual “Railroad” spaces.
When you land on it, you have an option to spend 50 points to move your token. You can move to any board space between the “Force-Field Rebound” that you have landed and the next “Force-Field Rebound” space. The next “Force-Field Rebound” space is not included as a choice of moving your token into. Follow the rules on a board space that you choose to place your token.
If you pass GO while using “Force-Field Rebound”, do not take any shots to score points.
If you do not want to pay to move (or do not have 50 points), then you stay in the “Force-Field Rebound” space that you have landed.
Go to Jail[]
When you land on the “Go to Jail” corner space, DO NOT immediately move your token to Jail. Leave your token in the “Go to Jail” corner space for now.
You will take one shot from the free-throw line to see if you are NOT going to Jail.
- If you made a shot, you’re safe and you don’t go to Jail. You stay in the “Go to Jail” corner space.
- If you roll doubles, you can take another turn.
- If you miss a shot, you will go to Jail. Place your token in the Jail (orange portion) on the opposite corner space.
- Even though you roll doubles, your turn ends once your token is in Jail.
Duel[]
When you land on a board space that another player is in, both you and that player will attempt 1 free throw from the free-throw line.
You go first since you land on another player.
- If both players score, each player collects 100 points.
- If only one player scores, the player who scored will take 100 points from another player who missed.
- If no one scores, nothing happens.
After the duel, you carry out the actions on a board space.
NOTE: If you land on a board space that more than 1 other player is in (2 or more), you choose only one of those other players to compete against in a duel.
Get Out of Jail[]
In this edition, there are 2 ways to get out of Jail. You CANNOT pay $50 to get out of Jail sooner.
1. Use a “Get Out of Jail Free” card
When you use a “Get Out of Jail Free” card, you can get out of Jail. You put your token in the “Just Visiting” section nearby.
Then, you shoot 3 times from the free-throw line to score points. Collect 15 points every time you made a shot.
Your turn ends, so your token stays in the “Just Visiting” section.
2. Take a shot from the free-throw line
In this edition, you can give it a shot to get out of Jail for free.
You have 3 attempts to get out of Jail.
- If you made a shot, you get out of Jail for free. Put your token in the “Just Visiting” section; however, your turn ends here.
- If you miss a shot, your turn ends and you stay in Jail.
If you miss 3 times in 3 turns trying, pay 50 points and you get out of Jail. Put your token in the “Just Visiting” section, but your turn ends here.
Shooting a Basketball[]
Since this Monopoly edition is based on basketball, it has the basketball set. Players can shoot to get points (and other rewards).
The launcher is used to shoot the ball into a net on the other side. It can be placed on the free-throw line or on the 3-point line, depending on the rules. Place the ball on the “glove” of the launcher. Then, you are ready to shoot.
If you made a shot, you will get points (or another reward).
If you miss a shot, you do not get any reward (or you get a penalty).
When Can You Take Shots?[]
When you reach the GO space
- Take 3 shots from the 3-point line.
- Every time you score, collect 100 points.
- If you made all 3, collect the maximum of 500 points.
When you land on the “Go to Jail” space
- Take a shot from the free-throw line.
- If you score, you can avoid Jail and you stay on the “Go to Jail” space.
When you want to get out of Jail
- Take a shot from the free-throw line.
- If you score, you can get out of Jail for free.
- You have 3 turns while locked in Jail to get out for free.
- If you miss 3 straight shots, pay 50 points to get out of Jail.
When you land on another player
- You and that player will both take 1 shot from the free-throw line.
- If both players score, each player collects 100 points.
- If only one player scores, the player who scored will take 100 points from the player who missed.
When you draw a “Hoop” card (like a “Chance” card)
- Shoot from wherever it says on a card.
Ending the Game[]
The game will end when there is only one player standing while the others have 0 points remaining and nothing else.
That player left standing will win.
- This way to end is exactly the same as in regular Monopoly and in many other themes of Monopoly.
