Starting the Game[]

Each player takes a board with the board corners’ corresponding color. Their one die must be the same color as their board. Their Mr. Monopoly marker of the matching color will be placed in the “START” small space within the “strip” in their gameboard; this “strip” is called the Mega Shut Down tracker and this tracker is separated from the traditional board spaces. Each player takes 1 token for their board and places it on GO in their gameboard. They will have 1 reference card while playing.

All 40 building blocks are put in their corresponding colors. Each color has 5 total blocks.

Both “Bank Heist” dials must be readily fastened. When unused, they are placed near the tray.

All 10 Chance tiles are placed facedown and placed near the tray. Since they are tiles but are not cards, they are placed side-by-side to each other (not stacked). Any Chance tile will be chosen by a player landing on the Chance board space.

To determine start and turn order, each player rolls their own die of their matching color. The highest roller goes first, and play moves to the left.

Gameplay[]

This game is played in rounds because a player will roll for all players playing.

A player will roll all the dice (self and 1-3 other players).

Each player will move their own token clockwise according to their own colored die.

Each player will take action according to a board space they have landed.

After your round ends, a player to your left will roll in the next round.

Board Spaces[]

Color[]

When you land on a color board space, take 1 building block of this same color.

  • Exceptions do occur sometimes.
    • When there is no building block on a tray for a color
    • When you have 4 build places occupied but a color you’ve landed is not one of them
    • When there are more players going for a same color than a remaining number of blocks for this color
Monopoly GO! - Mr

Mega Shut Down tracker and Mr. Monopoly small colored tokens

If there are no building blocks in a color you’ve landed, then you must move your Mr. Monopoly token (the smaller one) 1 inner space of the Mega Shut Down tracker to the right.

If you already have 4 build places occupied but the color you’ve landed is not one of them, then move your Mr. Monopoly token 1 inner space of the Mega Shut Down tracker to the right.

NOTE: You cannot do both of these actions in a same round: take a building block and move Mr. Monopoly at the same time.

Go[]

There is a benefit when you land exactly on the Go corner space as opposed to passing it.

  • This is unlike in regular Monopoly.

When your token successfully lands on Go, you must choose any one of these 3 options:

  • Take any color landmark building block and place it on your build square.
  • Try to pull off a Bank Heist.
  • Activate a Shut Down.

NOTE: You cannot do multiple options in your same turn.

When your token passes Go without landing, you do not get to choose an option nor get anything.

Go to Jail[]

When your token lands on the Go to Jail corner space, immediately put your token into the “Jail” corner space on the opposite side of your board.

If you are in Jail, you cannot move your token in the next round.

  • Even though your own die still rolls during that next round.

After the next round, in the following round, you’re free and you can move your token.

  • You do not have to move your token into the “Just Visiting” section, so you can get out from the orange “Jail” section directly when you’re free.

Bank Heist, Shut Down[]

When you land on any one of these yellow Railroad spaces, you must wait until all of your opponents have taken their actions on a round.

Then, you can perform either a Bank Heist or a Shut Down.

NOTE: If 2 or more players have landed on any yellow Railroad spaces, they must wait also. A player who has rolled all 4 dice in a round will perform first. Then, it goes to a next available player to the left (clockwise) to perform.

Chance[]

When you land on a orange “?” board space, you pick up 1 Chance tile from the Chance pile.

  • At the start, there are 10 Chance tiles. They are all facedown. But they are not stacked, so they are set aside to each other and any of them can be chosen by a player landing on Chance.
  • When a Chance tile is used, it will be placed faceup in a “discard” pile. When the Chance pile is empty, then all the tiles from a “discard” pile will be reshuffled and placed facedown in the Chance pile to be picked up once again.

Free Parking, Just Visiting[]

When you land on Free Parking or Just Visiting, you do not do anything.

These corner spaces are resting spaces, so there’s nothing you can do in these spaces.

When you get out of Jail, you do not have to go to the "Just Visiting" area, so you can go to the next color space directly.

Strategy[]

Bank Heist[]

When you land on the Bank Heist board space (yellow railroad space), you must wait until all other players have made their moves in a round.

Since you’ve landed on the Bank Heist board space, you choose another player to challenge.

You and your rival must grab the Bank Heist dials.

There are 3 pictures: diamond ring, a stack of money, and a coin.

  • Nothing special about each of these 3 pictures.

You and your rival secretly choose one of these 3 pictures.

  • The pictures must not be shown to all other players (and people).

When both of you are done, reveal your picture on the count to 3.

If the pictures are matched, then you pulled off a Bank Heist.

  • Only a player that has landed on the Bank Heist board space can win.
    • Not the chosen player.

If your Bank Heist is successful, then choose 1 of your rival’s building block to steal and to take as one of your own.

  • If you do not have any more of your build spaces being empty, then take 1 of your rival’s color building block away and places it back in its own storage area of the tray.

If the pictures do not match, then you failed to pull off a Bank Heist and nothing happens.

Shut Down[]

There are actually 2 types of shut downs: basic (small) and mega shut down.

Basic Shut Down[]

When you land on the Shut Down board space (yellow railroad space), you must wait until all other players have made their moves in a round.

Then, you choose a player and 1 building block for that player to be required to remove.

  • Once removed, it will be placed back on its own storage area of the tray.
    • But, you cannot receive it as one of your own.
Mega Shut Down[]

A mega shut down can happen only in the Mega Shut Down tracker.

You have to move your own Mr. Monopoly marker 4 times to get to the 5th & final space of your own Mega Shut Down tracker.

  • The middle 3 spaces of this tracker are the crane with a wrecking ball.
  • The final 5th space of this same tracker is the wrecking ball smashing the wall.

When your own Mr. Monopoly marker reaches this 5th & final space of your own tracker, you must wait until all of your opponents have made their moves in a round. Then, you can activate a mega shut down.

  • You are actually NOT required to do it immediately, so you can wait until you will in a future round.

Once you activate a mega shut down, choose one of all of the 8 colors.

All of your opponents must each remove 1 of this same color’s building block and put it back in its own storage area of the tray.

Afterwards, you will pick up only 1 building block of this color to add to your board.

After that, place your own Mr. Monopoly marker back into the start of your own Mega Shut Down tracker.
