Monopoly: Boulder, Colorado edition is the boardgame edition that is about a home rule city (self-governance) that the many cities in Colorado also have. Boulder is the county seat of Boulder County. It has the population of over 100,000 people, but it is only the 12th-most populous city in Colorado. Boulder (as a city) is located just 25 miles northwest from Denver (via U.S. Route 36), so its own county touches the state capital, making Boulder County one of the counties to be counted in the Denver-Aurora-Greeley Combined Statistical Area (the Denver metro is the biggest part of this area). Boulder is the base city situated at 5,430 feet (over a mile high) in the Rocky Mountains. The Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) is located about 30 miles to the northwest from Boulder, and it is accessible by U.S. Route 36. Boulder Creek is 31.4-mile long to the west of Boulder. The Flatirons are the rock formations of clothes irons (to heat wet clothes) that are located in Boulder. Besides the stunning views of the mountains, Boulder is home to the largest and flagship ("HQ") campus of the University of Colorado (CU Boulder). Pearl Street Mall is located in downtown Boulder. This city has many festivals and events. Boulder will become the new host of the Sundance Film Festival in 2027 (almost 60 years from 1978).
